Yeah, I don't really know what possessed me to put green face paint on my hands, other than the fact that I found it while cleaning this afternoon. But hey, at least my nails look pretty good.
Kris's grandfather spent most of his working days at Coors Ceramics, now a part of CoorsTek, a division that was created during prohibition so the brewery could keep making money. They made all sorts of crazy ceramic stuff, including golf club heads and miniature mugs like the one pictured here. The picture is to scale.
We are out in Gunnison looking for places to live (we found one! :D). We also took a tour of the local Catholic Church. Here are the prayer candles to Our Lady of Guadeloupe.
So I may have forgotten to take a picture this Monday, but I hope the double TubaChristmas fun makes up for that. Here is my awesome TubaChristmas hat, looking a little bit different.
It's December--a new month and a new theme. My mom suggested that I do red and green as my theme, and I decided to take her up on it! This is a photo of a gift card dispenser at the Foothills Mall.
I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This is a shot of the rice pudding I made, my Grandma Edna's recipe. It's not the holidays without it. And it disappeared so fast I only got one spoonful. That's the way it should be!
Lazy more refers to me than T. I really wasn't in the picture taking mood and my camera was down in the car, so I snapped this one with my cellphone. Definitely not as high quality. I'll post some Thanksgiving pictures later today.
Top view of the Native American wedding vase we got from Kris's grandparents as a wedding gift. Story behind the tradition of the vase here. Ours is strictly decorative and not ceremonial.
For our morning outing T and I went to the cemetery in town. It was a bit cold and windy so we didn't stay very long. Elizabeth's tombstone read, "Elizabeth, wife of J.C. Brown, Dau. of J.B. & R. Webster, Died May 8, 1876, Aged 23 years 10 mo. 1 dy"
Took a drive down to Lake Loveland today. This is a bench by a statue near the path around the lake. I had a couple pictures I really liked from this shoot, it was hard to choose.
We are down in the Springs celebrating my father in law's birthday this weekend. This is a picture of roses reflected in the cake cutter on the counter.
I was searching the internet on ideas for neat photography ideas and I came across the idea to photograph food dye dispersing in a glass of water. They suggested using a flat vase or fish tank, but I did this with a regular glass. I think it translates better in black and white than in color (blue), which is good because this month is black and white month!
This might actually make a cool texture in Photoshop! I'll have to try it out.
T and I went on a walk with Martha and her beautiful little daughter Margret in downtown Fort Collins today. We came across one of the many pianos that are a part of the Pianos About Town project, where artists paint old uprights that are placed around town for the public to use.
I've also decided that I will post black and white photography this month, maybe incorporating future themes in subsequent months.
